John Taylor Jr. journies to New Jersey. A close to 3,000 mile course is set for team Taylor Racing.
After a hot start to summer out in Arizona, Taylor racing is convinced its time come back to New Jersey where the weather is a lot nicer. With one car still under repair, not all the Taylor Racing team is coming back out just yet. John Taylor Jr. and girlfriend Courtney are the only ones making this trip. Getting ahead of schedule by preparing everything that needed to be in the small trailer for racing. Taylor racing ran into one small problem on there way from Ginco plumbing shop to there current residence to load clothes and other items. Upon reaching home a bearing on one of the trailers axle went bad pushing Taylor Racing behind schedule due to it being sunday and no places were open for parts. Little John Taylor that had wanted to be on the road sunday night would now have to wait until tuesday morning to go anywhere. After making speedy repairs they were now on schedule for there close to three day journey.
After grueling hours of highway hypnosis they have finally arrived here in New Jersey on Thursday night. With little sleep, only toping about 5 hours total Jr. is completely worn out and will need the next few days to recover.
After recovery time is spent It is then time for crew on the east coast to thrash and put the 427 blower motor in the metallic black Ed Quay dragster so Taylor Racing can start where they left off in Arizona.
Accident in Tucson leaves taylor racing a car down. As NHRA divisionals are heating up Taylor Racing struggles to repair damage.
When arriving at Tucson, Arizona Speedworld there was high hopes going into this event. for "Big" John Taylor Sr. and little John"Popo" Taylor Jr. Everything was like usual getting the cars unloaded from stacker which is no easy task with three cars, but made easy when son/brother Jeff "G" Taylor is on the crew, who will be running one of these beast soon enough. Getting these cars ready to race include jacking them all up and firing them to warm up, while tires are in rotation not only does this warm the engine blocks, but to loosen the transmission in each one and get all fluids heated to operating temperatures to make these cars consistent. When running top dragster and top sportsman it is key these cars are on their game. Once the cars are ready it is then up to the drivers to do their thing.
John Taylor Jr. who has been driving these cars for a couple years now was not at all ready for what was about to come. After seeing Dad lose first round it was then up to him to carry the name hopefully into the winners circle in which he was going to do his best. After winning first round "Popo" was pumped. Rounds to follow he was dead on his game and so was the little 427 big block Chevy which on top sits a 6-71 blower.
Around comes the semi final race. The car leaves as usual, Popo with the advantage off the starting line seems to be on another good pass until passing through the traps when the chassis unloads, it then breaks in half which sends young driver John Taylor Jr. soaring into the air then slamming back to earth with no rear tires the car slides and continues to go into and over the wall in which then was halted when grinding itself into the ground. The round was won and "Popo" would have been in the final, but the car was in no shape to race which forfeited the final round. John Taylor Jr. walks away from this experience he never wants to happen again, and is scheduled to jump back on the horse in a few weeks. The cars chassis maintained itself and kept "Popo" safe. The car is scheduled to undergo a front half and a back half as the main cage and chassis was not tweaked. Also needed are a new body and a scoop tray which is pretty banged up.
